Guess What? We're Still Here!!!!

Cool!!

What a day yesterday.  The Mrs. is on mandatory overtime of 5 hours per week.  For some this may not be a big issue as its a bigger paycheck.  However, when you're wife doesn't like to work to begin with, it can be an issue.

I do have to give her credit.  She focused on a goal of being able to take her overtime pay and buy a new couch.  Once I told her it was, indeed, OK to use the overtime money that way, she was all about it.

In addition to buying a couch, she really begged me to get NFL Sunday Ticket.  I said OK, but I'll need $150 of your overtime to go towards it.  No problem she said!!!  (I think I'm on to something here!)

Anyway, she worked 8:15 to 6:35 yesterday, then we went out to dinner (had some bad service gift certificates to use up) and did the grocery shopping for the week.  Got home at 10.  Still had to get some laundry started, not to mention we still need to put the living room back together after painting it Saturday.  Sheesh!!!

What are we going to do when kids come along?

Whaaa...what?  You told her it was OK, to use HER overtime money to buy a couch for the TWO of you to enjoy.   Hmmm, does she have to have your permission to use the money she earns in a ceratin way all the time?  Or is she frivolous, so in order to get the bills paid you have to regulate her paychecks, please explain?

We're on a budget.  All of our money goes together, direct deposit of the paychecks.  One checking, one savings, one 401K, same credit cards, just in both names.  We're married, after all.  Is she frivolous?  Maybe a bit.  It's more that she doesn't understand that it doesn't grow on trees and you can only have so many things.

She's been wanting a new couch (we need one, I'm sad to admit) and we were going to get it with our bonuses in December.  (We work for the same company)  With the overtime kicking in, she asked me if she could save it specifically for a couch so she could get it earlier.  I said fine.

She has to work 5 hours over, but she can work more.  So, it's just a matter of how soon she wants a couch.
